On the latest ‘Elite’ models of the console they have used a resin to hold the corners of the processors in place in an attempt to stop the movement that causes them to come away from the motherboard. I have had an ‘Elite’ fall victim to the three red light error so I would say that the attempted fix has not been successful!
This fix is basically meant to make your console so hot that the solder melts and reconnects with the processors; there is no way of making sure that the processors get reconnected when you do this so it really is down to pot luck.
The lifetime of this fix is relatively speaking rather short, I have not heard of a console working for more than 9 months after this fix. With our fix we have had consoles go on to run for another 18 months and counting.
